On a Trip

We are leaving today and I'm spending all day getting ready.

But to appease your appetite for things to thing about/anticipate, I'm hosting a contest starting next Monday after we're back. Get your thinking caps ready!

Goodbye, Norm

If you hadn't already known, Gnorm the gnome visited me this past weekend. Our adventures can be seen here:
Friday evening
Saturday morning
Monday afternoon

I hope that satisfies some appetites for blog reading. I've been doing much knitting and I'm about to the heel of the first Clessidra sock. That represents many hours of work... Stupid tiny size 0 needles!

So I went to the yarn store and splurged on some yarn for a hat they had on display (finally, a project for myself!). I was afraid that I'd be in big trouble for not knitting from my stash, but then McKay said, "You know, I've knit hats before." Ok. Fine. 1 beret doesn't mean "hats." but he offered to knit that hat up for me! Aww... And so I'm not guilty of buying that yarn for myself! I bought that yarn for McKay, who isn't bound to knit from his stash, as, well, he doesn't have a stash.

In the sock realm, while McKay and I were watching the Bourne Identity, I was making SO MUCH progress. The pattern was fairly simple: decrease, knit in pattern 11 rounds, decrease, knit in pattern 11 rounds, decrease. So I was doing that, and after going around my 11 rounds, I flip to the next sheet of pattern, and it says "knit in pattern 5 rounds." What!? I just did my 11 rounds like the 5 sets before hand, and because I was in a groove. Now I have to frog out 6 rounds to get those 5! And the pattern is really cable-y and I'm going to have to go stitch by stitch so I don't drop any!

Thursday we're leaving for a road trip. We'll be gone until Sunday (coming back probably late Sunday night).

Carillon Concert

So on Thursday, McKay and I went to a Carillon concert. Basically, we just sat outside and listened to the music. It was great! We have photos of me finishing up Part 2 of the Christmas gift for my FIL. See how artistically, I've blurred out what I'm knitting? HAHAHA!

And this next one makes me look like a bobble head.
In knitting news, I received Gnorm on Friday, and I've put up a post about him on the Knitting Gnome blog. I also received the package from the My Favorite Things Swap on the same day, and received some baby blue yarn. Not sure what to do about that, though.

coming soon...

So I have some pictures of me knitting. However, I'm knitting part 2 of the surprise present (which is done). I need to blur the pictures out.

Also, I don't look good in pictures. There are 2 possibilities for this: 1) I take bad pictures or 2) I just don't look as good as I think I do.

So just wait a little bit. I'll either put them up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Exciting news today: I'm going to the yarn shop today! Well, if I get off work in time. I need to buy some yarn for a swap.

Small Update

Just quickly, I'm about done with the surprise Christmas present for McKay's dad (part 2). Unfortunately because of the "surprise" element, I can't post pics until after Christmas, but know that I am knitting away though you can't see progress.

This week will be my last final ever for my last math class ever. I will still have a final in August for my summer class, but it will soon be over! Huzzah!

Still looking forward to road trip knitting next weekend...

So the new Knitty is up, and the pattern I'm most excited about is Unmentionables. Maybe it's because I like the word unmentionables (I did use it in my last post), but it's more that I love learning about the history of women and who doesnt want some old school scivvies? Oh yes. Too bad I have such a long list of knitting to do. I really need to finish up those socks (preferable before the 20th, but more likely July...) and the secret Christmas present for McKay's dad parts 2+3+4? (by the 29th).

On the home front, finals are next Wednesday and Thursday (20th and 21st), and then my last class before graduation is Humanities 202, and I'll graduate in August! Humanities can't be that tough, but I do have a pretty demanding work schedule this summer. We'll see how it goes.

Plus, we're road-tripping it to Tahoe on the 29th this month. This may mean knitting in the car time (when I'm not driving, of course). I really hope that I don't receive a gnome that weekend, though.

Anyway, back to work for me!

World Wide Knit in Public Day

So I didn't knit in public too much on Saturday, but because I promised pictures, you get to see the rest of my life from Saturday.

8am. We got up at 7:30, took our showers and at 8, made the bed:

9am We arrived at Mubba's house to help her and her husband and little Brody pack up their moving van.

10 am. We are loading stuff onto the truck. Here's Mubba and me (and her empty house). We were in color guard together for my first 2 years at BYU.

11am Here's McKay showing off all our goods that we aquired from Mubba. They gave us a lot of their perishables (and Mubba gave me a flag pole!). Both of those bags are full of food! And McKay looks funny.

12pm We had just gotten back from the grocery store and were trying to compress our new found food stuffs. Here's McKay combining some syrup at noon.

1pm In the car on the way to Heather Bishop's bridal shower with a bag of "unmentionables."

2pm Heather Bishop watching an interview of her fiance answering "how did you meet Heather?"-type questions.

3pm McKay just picked me up from the shower so I did some knitting in the car. Here's my lap.

4pm McKay and I are walking to the ward BBQ. We live next door to the Social Security office (hence the mirror-y windows).

5pm JaNae Kent and I at the BBQ.

6pm Wheel barrel game at the BBQ.

7pm We didn't have a picture for 7, so here's another picture at the BBQ with Trogdor on my hand (yay face painting booth!)

8pm Amy (the one with the scarf on her head) turned 26 yesterday, so we had a 70s "phunk" party. Amy's husband is the one with the 'fro wig.

9pm McKay and I at the part-tay. (like his mustache? hahaha!)
So that was our busy, busy day!

For those of you who read the bee in your bonnet, you know of

"The Right Place, Right Time"-athon

that I'm putting on!

Basically, I'll be taking pictures of whatever I'm looking at on the hour, every hour, for certain days. Because tomorrow is Worldwide Knit in Public Day, I'll be testing out my "-athon" on this blog, so expect some pictures. My Saturday has filled up fast, so I don't know how much knitting I'm going to actually get done, but I'm definitely going to try. Hopefully we'll catch some pictures of me knitting. :)
