Legwarmers!

So I've finished the leg warmers in red for Beth a week ago, but because I have to mooch the camera cable from McKay's work, the picture is a little late.

When the stretch out on my legs, you can't see the wavy-ness as much, but if they were looser to the point where the wavy-ness would stay distinct, they would fall right off! As it is, they like to slide down a bit. Maybe I'll add a ribbon to the tops to keep them up, weaved in and out of the waves.

If you want to know how to make them, I'll tell you. It was VERY simple.
I used Encore Colorspun Worsted in color 7131, which is a 75% Acrylic, 25% Wool worsted yarn, very quick to knit up. It took only one and a half skeins. I think I'll use the leftover for one of the colors of the Baby's First DNA strand when I get to that project this fall.

Ok, so my pattern:
Cast on 66 stitches on size 7 double pointed needles. Distribute as evenly as you can. I distributed as 16, 17, 16, 17 sts. on needles 1 through 4, respectively. I then followed the pattern for Wavy. If 66 stitches is too much/little for you, make sure you cast on a multiple of 6 stitches. Yep. So just follow the pattern for Wavy until it's long enough. It was long enough for me once I finished 2 sets of the 44 row + 2 rows of row 1, making it to be 90 rows (2 x 44 + 2). I then just casted off and called it a leg warmer. If you're taller/shorter, stop when you feel is best. Very simple. If I add a ribbon, I'll repost a pic of it just in case you wanted to see it.

I'll post the gauge later. I didn't really worry about it while I did the knitting (they're just leg warmers), but I know some people like to know, so I'll post it once I get a good look at it.

Llama Fest

So we haven't found our cord yet, but I was able to borrow one from McKay's work. So here are some photos. There are a few more here.

Here I am at the Krishna temple, where the Llama Fest is hosted.

And a corral of llamas

There was a lady spinning some yarn from llama fur. Unfortunately by the time we got into the llama fest, we only had $3 in cash, so I wasn't able to get anything awesome.

And now llamas:

And this one's for NH Knitting Mama. She wanted to see llama face.

Pending

I have pictures of a FO! But I can't find the cord to the camera, so you'll have to excuse me while I find it.

It's frustrating! We just tidied the house, too.

And our llama pics are also on the camera. Alas!

8:48 AM McKay: you don't neeed uterus ones

blogging

I know it doesn't seem like I've been knitting, but I have. With the Acronym Contest and being required to blog EVERYDAY, I haven't been up to posting anything else. I haven't even updated everyone completely on my life! I love my Acronym Contest, but I will be relieved when it's over (but not too relieved that I wouldn't do a contest ever again).

I finished the first of the legwarmers for Beth and have about a quarter of the next one done. I really am getting the hang of the pattern (and I should as I'm the modifier of it!). I've also started some knitting I wasn't planning on doing until these legwarmers were done. I can't say what it is yet, not because it's a secret, but because it involves news I haven't blogged about yet and I want to wait on (blame McKay for this, ok). News is slow getting out because we've been puds and haven't been working on another related project that needs announcing before this knitting one does.

If that paragraph made sense, kudos to you!

Urgent projects: Nikki's family's Christmas presents. I think for her boys (5 and 7) I'm gong to make dinosaurs. And for Nikki's baby that should be born this month... I don't know. Hmm. I'm already making a Baby's first DNA model for the Duede's baby in December (aka Baby D). I don't know...

Leggy thingys

So here's my Clessidra for Melissa so far. I need to figure out that heel turn!

And the first leg warmer for Beth, in process. The pattern is VERY simple, and when they're finished, I'll post beautiful pictures and then tell you all how I did them.

I'm actually a little worried about the yarn. For some reason, that yarn called me, but it doesn't seem like colors Beth would like. They're more "sweater vest for a 7 year old boy" than "leg warmers for an adult." Oh well, I suppose.

Back from CA

So we're back. I did finish part 3 of the surprise gift. Onto part 4 (eventually). I'm also at the heel of Clessidra. I'm having a problem with the pattern, though. At the part of the heel, I have 36 stitches on my second needle and then I slip one and seed stitch the rest, turn and slip one and seed stitch the rest, and so forth. I'm supposed to do that until I have 19 stitches on my two needles for the heel, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get two sets of 19 stitches when I started with 36. Ugh. If anyone knows, let me know. I've even searched the Clessidra KAL blog to see if others have run into the same trouble... no luck. But maybe I should join the KAL.

So that's on pause and there will be a picture of that sock soon.

And NHKnitting Mama is having a contest. It seems like it's the thing to do these days.

And about the Acronym Contest, it will be on my other blog.
